Listening Station Shiraz
Soft supple Victorian Shiraz, dangerously moreish by the glass. Bright, aromatic and juicy on the nose with just a touch of naughty bacon fat and white pepper. True to the varietal. This vintage is our brightest, most dangerously drinkable Shiraz to date due to its fine, bright fruit and soft silky elegance.
Our Shiraz is sourced from ancient Victorian soils in order to achieve a wine with greater finesse, purity and structure as well as typical eucalypt flavours and saline finish associated with the area. Picked at night and crushed within an hour of picking before being sent to the fermentation tanks. The Shiraz grapes were fermented in temperature-controlled tanks maintained at 22 – 25C to avoid extracting any harsh tannins, with the fermentations pumped over to extract good colour. 20% of the final blend is barrel aged.
Victoria’s cooler climate ensures the grapes used for this wine come in with wonderfully fresh flavours. This Shiraz has sweet spice, black cherry and a lovely menthol, eucalyptus note. On the palate the wine has a medium body with some ripe cola cube notes with cherry fool and fresh blackberries. This is a fantastic value for money Shiraz

In the 1960s the International Space Race was dependent on contact with the few tiny listening and tracking stations in Western Australia: their location crucial for continual communication with the astronauts spinning around the planet. The Listening Station celebrates this relationship, the vast and empty immensity of Western Australian night and the isolated communities that work there.
