Vegan Wine Mixed Case – Premium

Fantastic selection of premium mixed wines valued at £92.36 Normally contains 3 white and 3 red wines

The selection is made from our extensive list of vegan wines. A great gift for any time of the year, and especially essential for Vegan Christmas, Birthday or Anniversary gifts.

Our mixed cases, and bundles of wine are selected from our range of vegan wines. They represent great value, and we attempt to give you diversity as well as a vegan choice guaranteed by ourselves. You do not have to struggle to see whether a wine is vegan or not by looking at the minute print on the rear of the label. All that is doe for you and we check every item with the vineyards website to make sure that the wine is produced in the correct manner.

Do not therefore believe that all wines are vegan. They are not. The type of products often used in winemaking are shown below. Wines utilising any of these items can definitely not be classified as vegan wines.

Animal Products Sometimes Used in Winemaking:
Isinglass (from fish bladders)
Gelatin (from boiled cow or pig body parts)
Albumin (egg whites)
Casein (animal milk protein)

Fortunately, many winemakers use either vegan fining ingredients, or they skip the fining practice entirely by giving the wine some time to settle before decanting it into bottles.
Annoyingly, winemakers do not disclose fining ingredients on the label. But luckily, you can use the Internet to look up the status of most of the top brands. We are labelling the wines on our site which are vegan, however this is an on-going process. If in doubt about a Vegan Wine, you can always email the vineyard and ask. Producers often change their processes without giving the market any notice.

Tedeschi Capitel Tenda Soave

Tedeschi Capitel Tenda Soave

Tedeschi Capitel Tenda Soave Classico

This wine is made with grapes harvested in vineyards, located in oldest area of origin – the commune of Monteforte d’Alpone – that with Soave, makes up the classic Soave area. The distinctive winemaking technology employed yields an elegant and velvety wine with a delicate almond-scented nose.

Color: yellow with green reflections. Clear and transparent.
Bouquet: strongly and complex fruity bouquet. Very clean and with notes of dry fruits such as almonds. Rich and elegant.
Flavor: good body and good acidity. Relatively warm, rounded and well balanced. Pleasing and elegant. The after-taste confirms the notes in the bouquet.
Suited for ageing: 3/4 years

Tedeschi has also chosen a symbol that recalls the most important and persistent aromas and perfumes when tasting their Soave wine. As such, the Capitel Tenda Soave Classico Doc label depicts the almond given that this wine typically presents with a scent of nuts that can leave a slightly bitter aftertaste.

THE VINEYARD

Our Brightwater Vineyard lies about 15km from the sea (10km from the winery) and is nestled under the Richmond Ranges on the southern end of the Waimea Plains. The temperature at this site fluctuates more than any of our other vineyards due to its distance from the coastline. The Vineyard is exceptionally stony with free draining soils, which is very hard on the farm equipment. The large stones however are vital for holding the warmth of the Nelson sun and for ripening the grapes.  Lively fruit characters are evident in fruit harvested from this block.

WINEMAKERS NOTE

Aromatic and fresh Sauvignon Blanc flavours were encouraged prior to vintage through careful canopy management. The fruit was de-stemmed and pressed immediately after harvest and a cool fermentation was initiated in stainless steel tanks to retain the clean, fresh aromatic fruit characters.
Aotea represents a selection of wines which the Seifried winemaking team consider to be the very best of the best. The fruit is harvested from single vineyard Estate grown vines. The wines offer texture while maintaining the varietal character of the grape – wines with depth and finesse.

TASTING NOTE

The 2020 Aotea by the Seifried Family Sauvignon Blanc is pure and varietal. White flesh nectarine, dried hops and passionfruit flavours come through on the nose. The palate is generous with appealing mineral notes and lingering flavours on the palate.

“Crisp, vibrant sauvignon blanc with Rose’s lime juice, passionfruit and gooseberry flavours. Impressive purity and power, with an ethereal texture and lingering finish.”

Araldica Barolo Flori

Araldica Barolo Flori

Araldica Barolo Flori

A complex nose combining plum, mulberry, ripe strawberry and brown spice with delicate floral and violet notes. Tannins are firm and pleasingly supported with plump fruit and a rounded texture, giving a good lengthy finish.

Made from Nebbiolo grapes cultivated around the town of Barolo in southern Piemonte. These are trained on a low Guyot trellis at a density 4-5,000 vines/ha. The grapes were hand-harvested, de-stemmed and then crushed to small fermenters, for around 12 days, with daily pumping-over. This ensures good colour and flavour extraction, but avoids over extraction of the abundant Nebbiolo tannins. The wine was drained off at dryness, and the skins transferred to a small press. After pressing the wine was settled for two days, and then racked to stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation. After three years maturation in 50hl Slavonian oak casks it was racked and bottled.

Araldica is Piemonte’s most forward-thinking co-operative, situated in Castel Boglione, in the heart of Barbera d’Asti territory. Here they work with 230 grower members to source quality grapes from around 690ha of vineyards. Many of their members joined the co-operative in the 1950s and have a long and loyal relationhip with the winery. They produce wines from Piemonte’s main DOC / DOCG regions – predominantly Barbera, Gavi and Moscato, but also including Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero Arneis.

Araldica’s 140 associates, farming 900 hectares of vineyards, have obtained the SQNPI trademark – Sistema di Qualità Nazionale di Produzione Integrata (National Quality System of Integrated Crop Management). Wines and vintages that are now fully compatible with this system have a bee symbol on the label, which guarantees that each phase of production has complied with the strict parameters of integrated crop management. In other words, it is sustainable and eco-compatible, certified by an independent third party. Araldica is also developing a programme of organic viticulture.

Founded in 1954 by Livio Manera, father of the current Managing Director and winemaker Claudio Manera, Araldica has developed over the past 60+ years to become a major winemaking force in Piemonte, supplying wines across the globe.

Muscadet Vigne de L'Astree

Muscadet Vigne de L'Astree

Muscadet Vigne de L’Astree

Classic fresh and zesty, clean and lean Muscadet from a great traditional French producer.

Production

The vineyard lies on one of the best sites in Nantais at Saint-Fiâcre. Here the soils are layered with orthogneiss, a cracked, mineral-rich rock through which the vine roots weave and nourish the vine. Made traditionally at this small estate, the grapes were hand-picked, lightly pressed to retain their delicacy and purity of flavour, and fermented at cool temperatures to preserve their aromas. The wine was left on its fine lees until the following spring to add complexity and extra richness.

Tasting notes

Crisp, flinty notes with a hint of yeasty lees on the nose. The palate has a lean acidity with a slight spritz, with some bready and almost savoury citrus aromas.

Domaine de la Combe (formerly Domaine les Grands Presbytères) in the village of Saint-Fiâcre, is nestled in the cradle of the Muscadet appellation between the two rivers of Sèvre and Maine. The slopes of these river valleys give the vines unique exposure. After centuries of erosion they grow on a terroir of schist, gneiss and mineral rich orthogneiss, a soil composition that means Saint-Fiâcre is considered one of the best sites for Muscadet Sèvre et Maine.

Wines are made from vines of different ages. The oldest were planted in 1950s – a rarity in an area where most are dug up after 40 years – whilst the most recent plantings date from 2016. Not only are new vines being planted when necessary, but the planting density is being increased from 7,000 to 7,700 vines per hectare to force the roots deeper into the rocky soils.

Yalumba has been developing its own sustainable viticulture program since the mid 1990s. This starts in the vineyard and extends to every aspect of winemaking, production, packaging and distribution. Many awards and milestones have resulted due to sustainability now being at our core. All Yalumba wines were announced vegetarian and vegan friendly as of 2011. Yalumba is the first wine company in the world to receive the Climate Protection Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency, 2007. These benefits are most obvious in your wine glass.
Apart from economic viability and social equity, for us, sustainability is about biodiversity in our vineyards, says Winemaker Louisa Rose. To encourage it, we’ve done a number of things: we’ve reduced the amount of chemicals we use, incorporated an integrated pest management system, and encouraged biodiversity of vegetation in our vineyards”. All in the name of better winemaking
