Torres Cordillera Sauvignon Blanc

Torres Cordillera Sauvignon Blanc

Torres Cordillera Sauvignon Blanc

The Osorno Valley at the northern end of Chilean Patagonia, between the Bueno River and the Pacific Ocean, is home to an extraordinary terraced vineyard with volcanic soils. Carved into the northern foothills of the Cordillera de la Costa, it invites us to discover a distinctly original wine, offering the finest expression of Chilean Sauvignon Blanc we have encountered so far.

Straw colored wine with yellow tints. On the nose it shows a subtle and complex amalgam of passion fruits, and hints of herbs, citrus fruits and guava making it very elegant. In the mouth it is fresh, sharp, with a very present acidity that gives way to a full aftertaste, which covers the entire mouth. It is an incomparable expression of Sauvignon Blanc from a new terroir such as Osorno.

2020 VINTAGE
HISTORY
Winter was relatively normal, spring and summer were similar to last season, with somewhat less than average rainfall. In spring there were frosts at different times, as usual, however, despite the fact that this year they were
more frequent than the previous season, there was no damage, in part due to the somewhat later sprouting. The summer was moderate in temperatures, without having extreme heat as in other areas of the country. Although the drought was important, it did not affect the vineyards mainly, as there were good water reserves and rainfall during the spring. Production remained very similar this season compared to last season. The harvest date for
Sauvignon Blanc was similar to last year, around April 15 and from the phytosanitary point of view, it was a very clean year, which allowed us to work without problems and wait quietly for the fruit to ripen.
Always looking for places that would allow us to make exceptional wines, we found a very special place in the
Osorno Valley, just 40 meters above sea level, at the foot of the coastal mountain range, which quickly reaches 1,100 meters. high, functioning as a natural screen that protects us from the intense Valdivian rains. In this environment we find an incomparable expression of Sauvignon Blanc, refined and elegant.

Torres Chile

Miguel Torres Chile is a Chilean winery that was founded in Curicó, in 1979, by the Spanish family company Miguel Torres. In its 230 hectares (570 acres), the Viña Santa Digna vineyard cultivates the varieties Sauvignon blanc, Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay (for their white wines) and Cabernet sauvignon (for their red and rosé wines). To a lesser extent they also cultivate Pinot noir, which contributes to the cuvee of a brut sparkling wine.
